Studio Policy
Studio Behavior
• No gum, food, or drinks in studio
• Students who disrupt class will be warned verbally once; and if disruption continues,
they will be asked to leave the dance floor and remain in the lobby until they are
picked up.
• Being on time for class is extremely important, tardy dancers disrupt a class already
in progress and miss important class material.
• Dancers should be at the studio about 5 minutes before their class time in order to
put on dance shoes. If they need to change into dance wear, 10 minutes before class will
suffice, in order, to be ready for class.
• Pointe students should be at the studio in enough time to put on pointe shoes and be
at the barre when class begins.
• Class will always start on time, and we expect all dancers there and ready to learn.
• Please do not leave a child at the studio any earlier than 15 minutes before or after
that child’s class time. We are not responsible for a child that arrives prior to or later
than these 15 minutes. Exceptions will be made only if the studio is notified.
Attendance
• All students are expected to be at all class meetings. By the end of our dance
season, we hope to see an improvement in each student, but we can only see this if the
student attends regularly.
• No refunds are given for classes missed.
Tuition
• Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. After the 10th, there will be a $5.00 late fee.
• A statement will be sent out at the end of each month for the next month’s tuition.
• Accounts 30 days overdue will result in the student not being allowed to
participate in class.
• Please drop payment in payment slot located on the front desk in the lobby.
Lobby
• Our lobby is here to make our dancers more comfortable while waiting between
and for classes. Please do not misuse our lobby.
• If someone is being disruptive in any way, he/she will be asked to leave.
• NO FOOD, GUM, OR DRINKS are allowed in the studio lobby, dance floor, or
dressing rooms.
Visitors
• Only students enrolled in the class are allowed in the dance room while the class is
in session.
• Parents are not allowed in the dance room while class is in progress. We do ask that
all parents drop your dancer off at the lobby door. We promise that your little dancer
will get much more out of her class if this rule is followed.
Dance Wear & Shoes
• All students are expected to dress properly for class.
• Ages 3 & 4: Any color leotard (with or without skirt), Pink tights
• Ages 5 & up:
o BALLET– Black leotard, pink tights(NO SKIRT)
o JAZZ,TAP, & MODERN–Leotard or dance top,
Black jazz pants, short or capries, and/or pink/nude tights
(Skirts are allowed but tights must be worn!)
• NO T-shirts, tank or tube tops, jeans, or shorts are allowed during dance class.
• “Dance” is movement of the body, so the student must be capable of moving
comfortably and with no restrictions. Also, alignment of the body is very important for
correct dance form, and proper dance wear will help the instructors see if the alignment
is correct.
• Proper dance shoes must always be worn as well.
• NO STREET SHOES ON DANCE FLOOR, AND DO NOT WEAR DANCE SHOES
OUTSIDE!
• BALLET: Pink Leather slippers (Adv I & up – split-sole)
• JAZZ: Tan Jazz slipper (slip-on)
• TAP: Pre-Beg (3-6) – Blk patent leather w/ velcro strap
Intermediate (7-10) – Black Mary Jane Buckle
Advance (11-17)–Black tap oxford(lace up or slip-on)
• MODERN: Tan sandal soles
• Dancers that come without proper dancewear or shoes will be warned once and
allowed to dance. On a 2nd offense, the dancer will NOT be allowed to dance, but must
observe class. Hopefully, we will not have to discuss a 3rd offense.
Dance Show
• We hold a dance show at the end of the dance season in order to give our dancers
the opportunity to apply what they have learned and a chance to perform, which is also
an important part of a dancer’s training.
• All students are expected to participate in the show. Please notify the studio as soon
as possible if your dancer can not participate.
• A non-refundable costume deposit of $50.00 is due with September’s tuition. The
remaining portions will be due in October and November.
• If this money is not received by November, a costume will not be ordered for that
dancer.
• All payments on costumes are NON-REFUNDABLE.
• Average cost per costume:
o Child size: $35 - $55
o X-Large child: $45 - $65
o Adult size: $50 - $70
• Our dance show is usually held the last Saturday of May. Please mark your
calendars. This date is subject to change.
• A dance show fee of $10.00 per family will be charged on your March Statement in
order to cover the cost of the dance show…..auditorium fees, backdrops, programs,
lighting, music, etc.
